I have been hosting my blog with Host Monster for just under 4 years now. My renewal was coming up and I decided to look around and see if I could find another host and honestly after doing a lot of research I'm now confident that not only do I have a good hosting company but also the best shared web hosting for the price.

iPage (ipage.com) and HostMonster (hostmonster.com) are both GREAT. I prefer HostMonster, as I find their page load times faetsr. Both have GREAT live chat support, but iPage wins in this category. Both give you a free domain for the first year. Both use the same CPanel. Hostmonster's ftp access is easier. Hostmonster has better incentives and free tools (simple scripts, free attracts SEO, etc)All in all, choose HostMonster.

Not being much of a computer guru myself, let alone being new to the whole concept of running a business online, not being able to understand the customer service representatives was my worst nightmare. Getting the simpliest of things explained was a struggle. I felt like I was drowning. It should never be this difficult to get my questions answered by anyone.
Host Monster really has some work to do with their CS support staff because right now, support is not the word I would use to describe their work ethic.

Everything setup easily. I purchased a web hosting plan after taLking to a representative for a little bit to make sure I'm getting the right plan for me, then the tech support helped me setup my account and transfer over my files. Everything thing was done step by step and without any problems. I couldn't be more grateful and relieved.

I get frequent downtime and a lot of lost emails. This has happen to me at least 3 times already in the last 5 months. I don't know if they think this normal but I am not happy about it. Lossing data for more than an hour is terrible but loosing it for more than 24 hours is costly. The support staff was unhelpful and rather rude. I'm still waiting to hear from someone about the frequent downtime. There's no excuse.
