How To Interpret The Search Results

When a search of the FindMyHosting database is conducted only hosting plans that match the search are returned. Unless selected otherwise, only 1 plan per host is listed (their cheapest matching plan). This is to prevent any one host crowding out the results with multiple plans. The narrower the search, the lower the amount of matching plans that will be returned

At the top of each search results page there are some pull down menu's with help files and options.

10 matching plans are returned on each page, and plans are always listed lowest price first, or if you prefer they can be resorted with highest customer rating first. This is important - with most hosting resources, typically it is only hosts that are listed, not individual hosting plans, and the first host listed is normally the one that paid the most. FindMyHosting is clearly different.

Search Results Plan Detail

Each plan returned in the search results provides a doorway to more info. Check the customer ratings, check the host reliability, add the plan to your stored plans list to compare side by side with other hosting plans, jump to more detailed information, list all the plans by this host and jump to the hosts website to evaluate them in more detail.

Customer Ratings

Customers of a host can leave a rating and comments, hosts have the opportunity to reply to any comments left by a customer. FindMyHosting understands the importance that customer ratings play in decision making. A system is in place that validates that a customer making a rating is actually hosted by the host in question.

A ratings score is created based on the responses. This is also weighted for relevancy, so if only a few ratings have been posted the rating is adjusted accordingly.

The search results can also be resorted so the sorting is by highest rating first instead of lowest price first.

Host Reliability Measured By Alertra

Alertra is a company whose business is focused on checking that web servers are operating normally. Alertra checks each host listed in FindMyHosting every hour from different locations across the globe. Data over many months is stored by Alertra and you can view this data on any host. Alertra only checks the hosts main server, your website may end up being on a different server, but the data is a good tool for comparing hosts.

Hosting Assured

If a host is Hosting Assured then the Hosting Assured logo will show in the search results, along with their Hosting Assured status. The logo should also be visible on their website. Hosting Assured is not a certification of a host, it is an indication that they have agreed to a customer focused Code of Ethics. If you have a problem with a Hosting Assured host then you can ask Hosting Assured to mediate the problem. Basically it means a 3rd party is on your side to help if you are very unhappy with the host and can't get a good resolution. Hosting Assured is part of FindMyHosting. Stored Plans

You can store up to 4 plans and then compare them side by side. To add any plan to your stored plans list, just use the stored plans button shown with each plan in the search results. You can also do this from any plan detail page.

Follow the Stored Plans menu bar link to review your stored plans. Your stored plans get stored in a cookie so you can come back later and your stored plans will still be available.
